A lot of people we know have taken African safaris, and generally these excursions are turning up often on people’s bucket lists. The great news: growing appreciation for the crucial importance of African wildlife — threatened by criminal poachers and by the loss of habitat — underscores this trend. The practical news: African safaris require heads-up planning, and they don’t come cheap.
